How do you care for a flannel shirt?

Our care tips for flannel shirts:

It’s 100% cotton, so it’s machine-washable at 40 degrees and can be tumble-dried. But it’s best to wash it at 30°C and let it air-dry: it’s just as effective, much more eco-friendly, and will extend its lifespan. Also, be sure to wash it inside out to prevent fading and pilling.

Our best tip to keep it from getting too wrinkled and to make ironing easier: spin-dry at a low speed (600 revolutions per minute max) and hang it on a hanger while it’s still damp. By the way, ironing is an art we can’t teach you in just a few lines: here’s a great three-minute video demonstration. Don’t forget to always iron your shirts inside out and at a low temperature to minimize damage, especially with flannel shirts, whose soft, fluffy fibers don’t hold up well to an iron that’s too hot.

The fabric will always tend to pill a little. In fact, that’s the whole point of flannel: the cotton is brushed (which is what makes it so soft), so the fibers come loose more easily. It’s normal—you just have to put it into perspective and learn to live with it :)

There you go!
