Measurement chart

We size normally. Basically, if you take a M at most traditional brands (Uniqlo, Armor Lux, Benetton...), take a M with us.

Here's our measurement chart below. If you want to compare it to a sweater you already own, pick one that fits you well (we're talking about the size, not the color) and measure it laid flat.

The stitch is knitted as tightly as possible. This uses more yarn and therefore costs more, but it helps limit pilling and gives the sweater more structure.

This sweater is factory-stabilised and pre-washed so it won't shrink at home (with cotton clothes, most of the shrinking happens during the very first wash).

A solid texture

A sweater with texture looks great, but it's often fragile: a few years ago, we released a gorgeous "seed stitch sweater," but its raised, rounded pattern was prone to snags. For this product, we chose a knit stitch where the texture faces inward, which reduces the risk of snags. The result: a textured sweater that isn't fragile.

In detail

Saddle stitch

This knit stitch gives the fabric some texture while staying easy to wear.

Classic fit

The cut is straight, tapered at the hem and sleeves.

Ribbed cuffs and hem

1x1 rib (one knit stitch, one purl stitch) for the collar, hem, and cuffs.

Country of manufacture
  • Knitting and manufacturing: Portugal
  • Spinning, cotton: Turkey
But why ...

... why make them in Portugal and not in France?** **Of course, producing in Portugal lets us sell at a lower price. But it's also easier to get good quality there: in the 80s, when France offshored its industry, Portugal was busy building its own up. That said, others manage to make gorgeous 100% made-in-France sweaters, like Royal Mer or Montlimart.

How this product will age
How do we know? We ask our customers what they think of the product one year after they've bought it. And if the product is less than a year old, we give you our predictions based on some spontaneous feedback and on our experience with similar products.

This sweater will age beautifully: unlike a wool version, it won't shrink in the wash, pill, or wear through at the elbows.
That said, like all cotton garments, it may stretch out a little over the years. Despite the elastane thread we've woven into the sleeves, they could widen if you push them up over your bulging biceps.
We chose a hardwearing knit, but the raised texture always carries a slight risk of snagging (luckily it's easy to fix).

Care instructions

This sweater can go in the machine at 40 degrees, but it's better to wash it at 30°C: just as effective, far greener, and it'll extend its lifespan (especially how well the colours hold up).

Heads up: cotton can stretch out if you tug on it too much, so bear in mind that wearing your sleeves rolled up can eventually leave them a little loose.

No tumble dryer, or you risk shrinking the sweater. Don't hang it to dry either: your damp sweater is heavy and could stretch out under the weight of the water. The best thing for its lifespan and for the planet is to dry it flat, on a drying rack or a towel.

That said, you're absolutely welcome to iron it — quite the opposite! It can even help it get back into shape after a spin in the machine.

Environmental cost
This environmental cost is calculated using the official methodology of the French environmental labelling scheme (in force since 1 October 2025).

The label above shows the product's environmental cost according to the official methodology of the French environmental labelling scheme. It's what its manufacturing "costs" nature when you look at its impact on climate change, ocean acidification, its toxicity to freshwater, and so on. Currently rolled out in the textile sector, this label should soon appear on many everyday consumer products (food, cosmetics, furniture, and more) to help you shop in a more eco-responsible way.

The textured sweater therefore has an environmental cost of 1324 impact points*.

By comparison, a garment of equivalent weight, made from 100% conventional cotton, manufactured in Bangladesh and sold by a fast fashion brand, has an environmental cost of 4701 points*.

Why the difference? Here are the main reasons:

  • The countries of production: manufacturing in Portugal or France requires less fossil fuel than in Bangladesh (one of the main producers of low-cost clothing). The result: this more local production limits the impacts on climate change, ocean acidification and resource depletion.
  • The fabric: organic cotton has a fairly low environmental impact compared with conventional cotton, notably because it uses few pesticides (so low toxicity for freshwater) and because it's biodegradable (so fewer issues with microfibres or end-of-life waste).
  • Durability: fast fashion brands push people to buy by refreshing their collections at breakneck speed and offering a huge number of styles, and they discourage repairs by charging next to nothing. This drives up the number of garments sold per person and cuts down how many times a garment is actually worn. At Loom, we've done the opposite: we've chosen business practices that encourage our customers to keep their clothes as long as possible.

Even though we've done everything we can to keep it as low as possible, this product's environmental impact isn't negligible. So before you buy, make your clothes last as long as you can.

*Calculations performed by Loom on 31/08/2026. Click the links to access the simulations from the official Ecobalyse tool and get more details on the assumptions used. Please note: the number of points isn't always exactly the same on Ecobalyse (whose method changes regularly) as on the official environmental label (based on version 7.0 of Ecobalyse).

Politique d'avis client
