Organic Egyptian cotton
Organic Egyptian cotton

What makes this Giza cotton special (the finest of all Egyptian cottons): extra-long fibres for strength (over 3.6 cm, versus an average of 2.5 cm) and very fine ones for softness.

The fabric is soft thanks to the fineness of the Giza cotton. So is the waistband, because the polyamide thread was air-jet textured to mimic the fluffy feel of cotton.

In our lab abrasion-resistance tests, thanks to the use of a double-twisted yarn, our boxer brief earned the top marks: elastane showing at 35,000 cycles for the Loom boxer brief vs. 16,000 for the reference boxer brief, see the results in pictures.

Worn, tested and approved by thousands of customers, this pair of boxers is the result of several years of continuous improvement. We've refined it over time to reach a quality-ethics-price balance that we now consider spot-on. For example, we could lower the price by using cotton with shorter fibres, but then these boxers would wear out faster.

Size chart

Three ways to find your boxer size

Heads up: for some strange reason, plenty of brands (Dim, Eminence, Calvin Klein and co.) don't size from XS to XL but from S to XXL. So they run small, which means you generally need to drop a size to get your true size – for example, if you're an L at Eminence, you'll be more of an M with us. In short, the best thing is to find your size by trying one of our methods below.

1. With your trouser size

You don't necessarily wear the same size up top as down below: just because you wear your t-shirts in M doesn't mean you'll wear your boxers in M. To point you in the right direction, it's best to go by the trouser size you usually wear.

2. With your waist measurement

Measure your waist (where your boxer waistband usually sits), then check the table below:

3. With a pair of boxers you already own

Pick a pair of boxers that fits you well (we're talking about the size, not the colour). Measure it laid flat, then check the table below:

b - Side height (excluding waistband)232425262728,530

PS: Making clothes is manual work. So these measurements may vary by give or take 1 cm.

The techniques that ensure quality

Combed cotton
Combed cotton

Cotton that's had its short fibers removed by "combing" it: softer and more durable than regular cotton.

Two-ply

Thanks to the very fine Egyptian cotton, we were able to twist two threads together like a cable (that's what "two-ply" means). So it takes longer for holes to show up in the areas that rub the most (i.e. the crotch).

Made in France by the Berthéas factory, which specialises in elastic bands (notably for the medical field), our belt holds up to washing without warping or losing its stretch (lab-tested with accelerated ageing).

These boxers are stabilized and pre-washed at the factory, so they won't shrink on you at home (with cotton garments, most of the shrinking happens during the first wash)

It won't be getting holes any time soon

Thanks to the fineness of Egyptian organic cotton and the texture of the elastic waistband (made in France), this boxer is super soft. But also resistant: to delay the appearance of holes, we used a double-twisted thread – two threads wound around each other as if to make a cable.

But why ...

... make it in Portugal and not in France? Sure, producing in Portugal lets us sell for less. But it's also easier to get good quality there: back in the '80s, when France offshored its industry, Portugal built its own up. That said, others do manage to go 100% made in France, like Le Slip Français.

Why does the cotton come from so far away? Honestly, it's hard to get any closer. While a few die-hard French holdouts manage to grow it in their fields, cotton farming is marginal in Europe. The nearest places to source it are Egypt, Turkey, and Greece.

How this product will age
How do we know? We ask our customers what they think of the product one year after they've bought it. And if the product is less than a year old, we give you our predictions based on some spontaneous feedback and on our experience with similar products.

The boxers will stay in great shape, barely stretch out, and won't get holes anytime soon (only a tiny handful of customers have told us about holes after several years of wear).
That said, like all cotton garments, it will lose a little of its softness and shine over time as you wash it.

Care instructions

It's machine-washable at 40 degrees, but 30 is better: just as effective, far greener, and it'll make your garment last longer.
And ideally inside out, to better preserve the colours.

For its longevity and for the sake of the environment, air-drying is the way to go. But sometimes you don't have a choice: if you have to use a tumble dryer, do it on low heat (i.e. a delicate or synthetic setting) to keep it from losing its stretch and to avoid damaging the fibres too much.

Finally, it might feel a bit snug around the thighs at first: that's normal, and it keeps the garment from riding up too much over the course of the day. It'll loosen up slightly the more you wear it.

If it pills a little against your skin the first few times you wear it, that's normal: it'll disappear completely after a few washes.

If it looks a bit shiny at first, that's normal too: this slightly silky appearance comes from the fineness of the cotton fibres, which give it its softness and durability. But no need to worry — that shine tends to fade wash after wash.

Environmental cost
This environmental cost is calculated using the official methodology of the French environmental labelling scheme (in force since 1 October 2025).

The label above shows the environmental cost of the product according to the official methodology of the French environmental labelling scheme. This is what its manufacturing “costs” nature when you look at its impact on climate change, ocean acidification, its toxicity for freshwater, etc. Currently rolled out in the textile sector, this label should soon appear on many everyday consumer products (food, cosmetics, furniture...) to help you buy in a more eco-responsible way.

The boxer shorts therefore have an environmental cost of 263 impact points*.

By comparison, a garment of equivalent weight, 100% conventional cotton, made in Bangladesh and sold by a fast fashion brand, has an environmental cost of 943 points*.

Why this difference? Here are the main reasons:

  • The producing countries: manufacturing in Portugal or France requires less fossil energy than in Bangladesh (one of the main producing countries for low-cost clothing). Result: this more local manufacturing limits the impacts on climate change, ocean acidification or resource depletion.
  • The material: organic cotton has a fairly low environmental impact compared to conventional cotton, notably because it uses few pesticides (hence low toxicity for freshwater) and because it is biodegradable (hence fewer issues with microfibres or end-of-life waste).
  • Durability: fast fashion brands encourage purchasing, in particular by renewing their collections very quickly and offering a very large number of references, and they discourage repairing by charging derisory prices. This therefore increases the number of garments sold per person and reduces the number of times a garment is worn. Conversely, at Loom, we have chosen business practices that encourage our customers to keep their clothes for as long as possible.

Even though we did everything to make it as low as possible, the environmental impact of this product is not negligible. So before buying, make your clothes last as long as possible.

*Calculations made by Loom on 24/08/2026. Click on the links to access the simulations from the official Ecobalyse tool and get more details on the assumptions used. Please note: the number of points is not always exactly the same on Ecobalyse (whose method changes regularly) as on the official environmental labelling (based on version 7.0 of Ecobalyse)

Politique d'avis client
